Homeschool Preschool Morning Meeting Using Google Slides
When I first started planning to homeschool my 3-year-old, I knew I didn’t want to jump into formal academics. I just wanted to gently introduce learning and routine into our days—something similar to a preschool circle time, but flexible and personal.
That’s when I started creating our own morning meeting routine at home. It’s been a cool, low-pressure way to connect, start our day with God, and build in simple learning—without stress or expectations.
What Is Our Morning Meeting Routine?
We usually do our morning meeting after breakfast. Some days it’s 15 minutes, longer other days. One day we will complete all the activities at once, the next day we may space them out.
Here’s what we include:
Feelings check-in (great for emotional development)
Morning worship (we sing a song or watch a short Bible video)
Preschool circle time elements (calendar, days of the week, months, weather)
Letter of the week + number of the week
Important life topics (safety, address, birthdays, etc.)
Books for the day
A brain break or short movement game
Hands-on activities (cutting practice, pencil control, crafts, or sensory play)
I designed it to be gentle and enjoyable. If my preschooler wasn’t into it that day, we’d skip parts—or the whole thing. I want him to love learning, not feel forced.
How We Use Google Slides for Morning Meeting
I found a resource on Teachers Pay Teachers that gave me the perfect foundation:
Paperless Morning Meeting by Primarily Kinder.
It works with PowerPoint or Google Slides and includes things like:
Calendar slides
Days of the week
Feelings check-ins
Letter and number slides
Weather reporting
Worship songs (YouTube embedded)
Letter & number videos
Movement breaks (like a quick “Freeze Dance”)
Our book list and planned activity of the day
I rearranged the slides and added a few of my own to make something that really worked for my little one. It’s now a fully customized preschool morning meeting that includes YouTube videos, personal touches, and all of our daily learning prompts.
Having this in a slideshow format keeps my son engaged visually—but it also helps me stay on track. I know what we’re doing, what comes next, and what we can skip if needed.
Want to See It in Action?
I’ve created a short screen recording to give you a look at how we use our Google Slides version of morning meeting (without sharing any copyrighted content). You’ll see how I embed videos, organize slides, and keep it kid-friendly and flexible.
